Shufang Du, piano
Born in Taiwan, violinist Shufang Du came to America in pursuit of higher education after playing with Taipei City Symphony Orchestra for a year. She received her Doctorate in violin from Boston University and has appeared as a soloist with Boston Classical Orchestra, Boston Neo-Politan Chamber Orchestra, Boston University Orchestra, and The Boston Conservatory Orchestra.
As a member of Homeland Chamber Ensemble, she has been touring in Taiwan and Japan frequently since 2001 and has made six recordings with the group. She was a teaching assistant at Kneisel Hall Adult Chamber Music Program in Blue Hill, Maine and Tuscany, Italy. Being a chamber music lover, she has appeared in concerts with many chamber groups in Boston area, including Parnassus Quartet, and Alcyon Chamber Ensemble.
As a pianist who holds a Master's degree from The Boston Conservatory, she was a concerto competition winner and has been a staff accompanist at the school since 2001. She performed in the program "Asian Focus" on Channel Seven and played concerts with David Kim (Concertmaster of Philadelphia Symphony Orchestra) in New England area.
She is a member of Indian Hill symphony, and has played with Rhode Island Philharmonic, Emmanuel Music, Cantata Singers, Portland Symphony and Vermont Symphony.In addition to her private studio, she is also on the faculty of Brookline Music School and The New School of Music in Cambridge
